Plantar Fascia Strain

What is a Plantar fascia strain?
The plantar fascia or arch ligament is a band that runs from under the heel to the front of the foot. A strain or rupture to this is quite common. A plantar fascia strain might result from one single traumatic incident or may gradually occur over a period of time

What are the symptoms of plantar fascia strain?
Localized tenderness and pain over the plantar fascia on the sole of the foot.
A sudden pain under the arch/heel of the foot.
A nodule or lump may be present in the plantar fascia, which might indicate a partial rupture.
What can the athlete do to prevent plantar fascia strain?
Rest (use crutches to take the weight off the foot if needed).
Apply cold therapy as soon as possible and every 2-3 hours for 15 minutes at a time.
See a sports injury professional who can advise on treatment and rehabilitation.
What a Sports Injury Professional can do:
Tape the foot to provide protection and take the strain off the foot.
Apply ultrasound therapy.
Apply sports massage techniques.
Advise on strengthening and rehabilitation.
A plantar fasciitis strain usually heals within two to three weeks.
